{"id":493,"date":"2020-03-31T23:13:20","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T23:13:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/prolificpreambles.com\/?p=493"},"modified":"2020-05-01T21:33:34","modified_gmt":"2020-05-01T21:33:34","slug":"people-matter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/prolificpreambles.com\/?p=493","title":{"rendered":"People Matter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The world is changing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Whether you think our current COVID-19 crisis is an overblown hoax or the great equalizer of modern society, we can\u2019t deny this crisis has suddenly and dramatically altered the state of our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">So what do you do?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>How are you coping?<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>What does social distancing mean to you?\u00a0 Are you sheltering in place?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This short narrative is not meant to be an antidote for collective helplessness and\/or further confusion, but rather a message of comfort to our collective human fragility.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> During these tumultuous times, I often think of my friend Clara Knopfler, who is under mandatory lockdown in the assisted living community where she lives.\u00a0 Clara survived the Holocaust with her mother.\u00a0 She chronicled in her book, \u201cI Am Still Here: My Mother\u2019s Voice\u201d accounts and pieces of her past.\u00a0 I have been fortunate to observe firsthand, how Clara is slowly healing the world with her message of hope.\u00a0 Her mission is to educate others, advising everyone around her to be aware of what is happening in the world.\u00a0 She captures the attention of each person she meets with her stories of survival. I spoke with her a few days ago and her hopefulness is contagious.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Hope can also be the counterweight to the heavy sense of our relationship with the unknown.\u00a0 We hope, precisely because we are aware that terrible outcomes do happen.\u00a0 Everything is possible and often probable, whether it is good or bad.\u00a0 However, the decisions we make impact our desired outcomes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Can a cosmic timeout offer insight into the miracle of our reality?\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> Maybe I am overreaching but it does intrigue me on how easily the evolution of our existence can be taken away.\u00a0 It is a choice to understand our capacity to transcend suffering,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We can find true freedom and survive trying times by not only helping ourselves, but others.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>When we begin to explore how easily we imprison ourselves in our own minds, the healing begins.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As we look within during this public health crisis we are living through, let&#8217;s together understand and pay attention to the signs being shown to us find freedom from our muddled minds.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Life is both beautiful and bittersweet.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our physiological precariousness to our survival can be sobering.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>We are forced to learn how to be vulnerable in order to keep our sanity.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Thank goodness for technology and its ability to globally connect everyone.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>How lost and alone would we feel if our devices were &#8220;timed out&#8221; too?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Our unique human paradox is living more empowered lives with those we love, even in the most crazy circumstances.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As we feel our way through this new era, when both hope and fear are at a global high.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Let\u2019s never forget what Clara endured and a an ornamental plaque perched up on her desk displays.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><i>Learn from the past. Live for the moment.
